Correspondence was sent on May 19, 2021 to federal Minister of Justice, David Lemetti, on behalf of CALL. We are joining workers of the Canadian Human Rights Commission of Canada, the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, and the Canadian Bar Association in demanding much-needed reforms to the Canadian Human Rights Act. We are grateful to all of the members who contributed to this important advocacy work. The letter was drafted by members of the Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Colour Committee of CALL, and was approved by the CALL Council.

March 29, 2021

As you know, due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2021 conference will take place virtually.  We have circulated a survey around the membership and, taking into account the results of the survey, our Agenda Planning Committee and Council have come to an agreement to hold the conference on the following days:

Since it is unlikely that all members will be able to attend all sessions, the sessions will be recorded, allowing members to view the recordings thereafter.

The Agenda Planning committee is hard at work on the panels themselves. The committee will account for the preferences that came out of the survey, namely holding panels on weekdays, respecting time zone limitations across the country and limiting sessions to 2 per day as much as possible.

You will get a more detailed program when the panels will have been finalized. For now, we would ask you to reserve these dates.

March 3, 2021

As you know, our CALL conference will be held virtually this year. It is normally scheduled for June 3rd to the 6th 2021. However, considering the new format, Council would like to survey our membership on how and when to best to deliver the panels. As such, we would really appreciate it if you could fill the survey below, at the latest on March 15, 2021 at 5 pm.

Rest assured that your Agenda Committee, as well as the Council and the Executive are working hard to make this year’s meeting a resounding success, despite circumstances.  While we have not finalized pricing yet, we are aiming to make the event inclusive while maintaining sufficient funds to allow CALL to return to in-person annual meetings starting, hopefully, in 2022.
